Involves managing the administrative and financial operations of one or more health sciences interdisciplinary / research departments, divisions or centers with clinical collaborations. Responsibilities include some or all of the following: financial management, clinical research administration and fund management, academic and staff administration, clinical practice management, facilities and information systems management, graduate and undergraduate program administration. General management activities include short and long-range strategic planning and directing departments / centers through subordinate management and staff.

Involves all aspects of the medication use process, including procurement, prescribing, compounding, dispensing, storage of medications, administration and monitoring. Partners with physicians and other clinicians to provide treatments and advice to patients, records patient history relating to medication use and ensures the safe and secure storage of medications and related supplies. Advises physicians in determining the best possible treatments for specific diseases, stays current on pharmacy regulations, treatments and developments in research and design. Pharmacists are the experts on drug therapy and the primary health professionals who optimize use of medication for the benefit of the patients. Meets educational needs of patients, healthcare team, students and residents. Ensures adherence to regulatory and fiscal requirements.

Conducts analysis in support of real estate transactions and decision-making efforts. Participates in the selection, evaluation, acquisition, occupation, management and / or disposition of real property and building space in compliance with policy. Participates in development of budgets and resource allocations. Manages compliance with lease agreements and contracts; participates in negotiation efforts. Conducts financial analyses to evaluate and recommend lease vs. purchase decisions. Completes any required forecasts, budget analyses and reports of activities.

Involves managing or performing the administrative services or managing the full general operations of an academic or non-academic organization(s). Administrative services include activities in finance and human resources and may also include IT, facilities, or student services. General management activities include long and short range strategic planning in determining the mission and directing all activities of multi-disciplinary departments through subordinate management staff.
