Schedules and coordinates the activities of the nurse anesthetists engaged in administering anesthetics to patients during surgical procedures. Monitors the effects of specific anesthesia, drugs, techniques, and patient reactions. Develops, recommends, and implements procedures pertaining to the administration of anesthetics. Requires certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

Involves coordination of donated anatomical gifts, including human specimens and anatomical materials used in medical education, and research procedures. Participates in policy and program planning, technical procedures, anatomical donor relations and administration. Provides consultative services to medical faculty, students and researchers. Communicates with donors or donor families who may consider a donation to the program. Involved in oversight and compliance with federal, state and University mandated laws, or policies. May be responsible for finances, program operations and vendor selection.

Involves the clinical practice, operation and management of the invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular service areas. Involves achieving high practice standards, pursues and maintains applicable accreditations within invasive cardiac cath lab, ECG / cardiac stress testing, echocardiography and vascular lab. Functions as part of interdisciplinary team, working across the full continuum of care.

Involves the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards and protocols for quality organ or islet cell transplant patient and donor care. Includes the establishment of mechanisms to monitor the quality of transplant care in conjunction with the hospital wide plan and ensures compliance with applicable accrediting agencies and regulatory standards. Involves interdisciplinary patient care from a team of experts who represent medical disciplines as well as support services.

Involves the retention and security of patient care information. Develops and coordinates policies and procedures incorporating legal, ethical, regulatory, accrediting standards, licensure requirements and vendor contract agreements. Works with information systems to establish best practice applications and data storage. Provides oversight of units that typically include transcription, coding and abstraction.

Involves services such as individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, outreach and programming. Provides services for a range of conditions including academic or job stress, parent-child problems, substance abuse, anxiety, trauma recovery, depression or social phobia. Services may be provided by a combination of licensed clinicians, as well as counselors and crisis intervention specialists.
