As measles cases continue to increase in the Bay Area and across the United States, faculty and staff to are asked to verify that their measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination or immunity records are documented with Occupational Health Services (OHS) to help protect our community and those we serve.‌

Maintaining accurate MMR immunity records directly affects how UCSF responds to MMR exposures. Public health guidance recommends that individuals with unknown immune status, or who are not immune, remain off work for 21 days following exposure to reduce the risk of transmission to others.

Action Required by June 30, 2026 

‌All staff and faculty should review current MMR requirements and submit documentation of vaccination or immunity, as required, to Occupational Health Services by June 30, 2026.

What You Need to Do 

• Check your immunization status in HR Umbrella to confirm that Occupational Health Services (OHS) has your record.
• ‌‌If documentation is not on file, submit proof of MMR vaccination or immunity through the OHS Portal.  

Clinical Environment (Required) 

UCSF employees who access a clinical environment for any type of work are required to have documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity on file. 

A clinical environment includes, but is not limited to, any place where patients or human subjects are seen, evaluated, or treated. This includes, but is not limited to, hospital rooms, clinic spaces, infusion centers, clinical research areas, triage areas, hallway beds, and other patient care settings.

Non-Clinical Environment (Highly Recommended)

UCSF operates in environments where patients, clinicians, learners, and employees share space, increasing the risk of transmission and the importance of documented immunity. For this reason, documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity is highly recommended for all UCSF employees who access any location.
