Celebrate Disability Pride Month

Learn ways you can help honor the history, achievements, experiences, and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities

The month of July is Disability Pride Month and is an opportunity to honor the history, achievements, experiences, and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Disability Pride Month was established in July because it marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Active participation in creating a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive environment for all faculty and staff at UCSF is one way to celebrate this month. The following are some other ways to celebrate:

  • Educate yourself about disability rights, access, and inclusion.
  • Share and promote content created by disabled authors, artists, and podcasters
  • Engage in disability rights advocacy and activism.
  • Volunteer or donate to organizations that support disabled individuals
  • Watch a film about the disability experience.
  • Find out who your disability resources are at UCSF: UCSF Resources | Disability Resources
  • Learn about ableism: What Is Ableism? Examples, Effects, and How to Overcome It
