Our workforce strategy aims to drive excellence across our education, research and care delivery missions. UCSF leadership has announced changes to optimize the impact of our faculty and staff by balancing on-site, flexible and fully off-site work.
On-site, flexible, and off-site work categories are governed by the On-Site and Structured Flexible Work policy, effective Jan. 1, 2026. The policy provides broad parameters and designates each control point — schools and vice chancellor-led units — to decide whether to classify a worker as on-site, flexible or fully off-site for their work.
