Flu Vaccine Actions Still Needed
Employees must either submit proof of vaccination or complete a declination statement.
Flu season is still upon us, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urges everyone 6 months and older to get a yearly flu vaccine as a safe and effective way to prevent mild to severe illness that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes death. Getting vaccinated protects yourself, your co-workers, family and community. Flu vaccines are required by public health agencies and the University of California.
The compliance deadline for UCSF employees, physicians and learners, and UCSF Fresno campus, to get their flu shot was Nov. 1, 2023. To date, 94% of Health employees and 86% of Campus employees have taken the required action to vaccinate or submit a declination to vaccinate.
All employees who have not yet taken action MUST do one of the following:
- Get vaccinated. If you receive a vaccine from a provider outside of UCSF Occupational Health, please submit the record via the OHS portal (MyAccess required) or email [email protected]. It’s quick and easy! The flu record should have at least two identifiers: Name, Date of Birth (DOB) or Medical Record Number. If it only includes one identifier, write your UCSF Employee ID or DOB on the record.
- Complete a declination statement if you chose to decline vaccination. We still need your official declination recorded and this can also be done via the OHS portal.
