Involves the development and administration of a systematic program designed to reduce risk and injury. Manages the identification, analysis and assessment of loss potential throughout the facility, identifies legal risks related to professional, employment and comprehensive general liability. Evaluates and advises on trends of professional, employment and comprehensive general liability claims experience to the administrative and medical staff. Makes recommendations concerning professional conduct, standards of care and facility operation to reduce exposure to liability and insurance claims. May represent the organization in litigation and non-litigated matters and coordinates with attorneys, third party administrators and UC Office of the President.

Serves as a bridge to patient's religious community or congregation and to appropriate clergy or religious / spiritual leaders. Offers education and fosters conversation and clarification on cultural, ethical, religious, and other topics / dynamics that can affect patient care, family interactions, and staff performance.

Includes the establishment of mechanisms to monitor the quality of transplant care in conjunction with the hospital wide plan and ensures compliance with applicable accrediting agencies and regulatory standards. Involves interdisciplinary patient care from a team of experts who represent medical disciplines as well as support services.

Involves designing, conducting, managing, and evaluating community educational and development programs in partnership with educational institutions county-based agencies, organizations and services. Collects enrollment data, maintains education curricula inventory, and evaluates program results. Functions as a community resource, provides leadership to volunteers and acts as subject matter expert for assigned program.
