Overview

To be used for enrolled/registered UC Students (not UC extension) who are seeking short term experience in research or other academic project under the supervision of an academic appointee.

UC Student Steps

Step1

Determine Need for UC Student Affiliation

Guidelines:

  • To be used for enrolled/registered UC students (not UC extension) who are seeking short term experience in research or other academic project under the supervision of an academic appointee.
  • Research projects only. Not to be used for clinical observations or for teaching.
  • Appointment period should be for the duration of the registered period (can be shorter, not longer).
  • The time spent at UCSF during the school year cannot exceed 50% time.
  • Ineligible for stipends or any compensation.
     

Step2

Submit request to HR through People Connect Management Actions (PCMA)

 Case type: ‘Appointment’ 

  1. Case sub-type: ‘Volunteer, Vendor, Affiliate Appointments (Campus)
  2. Please attach the following:
    1. Completed and signed UC Student Affiliate form
    2. Verification of Enrollment Form for period of request
    3. Signed Confidentiality Statement
    4. CPT I-20 for F1 visa, if applicable (UCSF should be noted as worksite)
  3. Please allow 3 weeks for processing.
