Overview
The UCSF Well-being Committee brings together leaders across the enterprise to advocate for programs, initiatives and efforts to support the well-being of our staff, faculty and students across UCSF.
About the committee's work
Well-being considers the entire person and the environment around them and includes a state of good physical and mental health, happiness, fulfillment, purpose, and feeling safe and secure in one’s environment. Individuals with high levels of well-being are more productive at work and more likely to contribute to their communities.
While wellness programs have been longstanding at UCSF, the need to provide our community access to more support and better well-being resources has risen from desired to essential.
UCSF Wellness and Community established the Well-being Committee in 2021 to bring together wellness leaders and advocates from across UCSF to work collaboratively with each other to achieve the following goals:
- Heighten awareness of and improve access to existing resources and opportunities that support the well-being of UCSF’s vibrant, engaged, and diverse workforce, with priority for addressing the unique challenges faced by our marginalized and under-represented communities;
- Partner with wellness experts at UCSF to identify resource gaps and make these additional resources available to the UCSF community; and
- Advocate for improved programs and resources that will result in a culture of wellness at UCSF.
Committee members have been nominated given their functional role relative to wellness, subject matter expertise and sphere of influence to advance a culture of wellness. Member representation includes faculty and staff from an array of programs and services including, but not limited to, UCSF COPE Program, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Disability Services, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), Faculty, Finance, Fitness and Recreation, Occupational Health and Safety, Spiritual Care Services, Sustainability, University Relations, and UCSF Health.
