Carmona, Esther: Nominated for Gold-Standard Work, Esther has been instrumented Compensation, both Campus and Health, in working through and processing the numerous and often very complicated wage implementation actions this year. Esther is very knowledgeable and always provides the best advice to get the payments done, ensuring that deadlines are met, in spite of very tight timelines. Many of these payments also involved retroactive individual calculations that Esther performed to ensure accurate payments for each employee.
Van, Ha: Nominated for Gold-Standard Work, Ha did a tremendous job getting new per diem cooks through the onboarding process. The new employee had never been through such a rigorous hiring process and thus the department was very grateful that Ha was made available every step of the way and kept all parties in the loop. The department is especially impressed that the new employee was able to start in 3 weeks-time during the Thanksgiving break.

November 2022

Protacio, Matthew: Matthew has done an excellent job in being a supreme leader for the Employment Team. Matthew continues to take the lead and facilitate trainings with new members on the team, take on new projects given from leadership, all while maintaining his ongoing projects and management action form (MAF) cases. On example of his excellence is being proactive in assisting with the Employee Referral Bonus program after a recent policy change which resulted in in the review of over 1,800 records, one by one, and determine if they were eligible to receive a referral bonus. Matthew has now made a weekly commitment to maintain these referral bonuses to ensure the cases do not pile up.
Bass, Karche: Nominated for Gold-Standard work in the contributions in making a smooth transition of the MSP Physician work from Team A to Team E. The work of transitioning this high-touch population required careful attention in which Karche rose to the occasion by providing client coverage for a teammate when they were away during a critical transition period, ramping up usage of an MSP Physician Staff HR group in Teams which was self launched, and offering to shadow teammates in Team E.
Camarillo, Angie: Nominated for Gold-Standard Work, Angie stepped up to provide coverage at a critical time for Team E where several teammates were out for two weeks or more. Angie took on coverage for several departments and did so with professionalism and confidence. Angie was able to provide excellent service to the departments covered while also continuing to support ongoing assigned departments. Angie also helped to ensure that clients were well served and that colleagues were able to smoothly transition back to work.

October 2022

Budanova, Nataliya: Nominated for Gold Standard Work, Nataliya stepped up to provide for a colleague who was out on leave on very short notice at a time where Nataliya’s department was at a high in addition to the department that was being covered. In addition to working through the backlog and providing amazing service and support to the departments and their employees, Nataliya also assisted in training a new member on the team! We are very grateful for Nataliya’s flexibility and professionalism!
Hom, Anna: Nominated for Gold Standard Work for a great colleague as in the past two months, Anna supported a teammate out on leave under short notice while Anna was out on PTO. Anna had returned to a ton of emails, yet accepted the coverage role with no hesitation. Anna had did an amazing job in covering both high volume areas and has received multiple praises from the departments that were being covered, Anna’s own departments, and peers. Anna made this coverage transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
Hraboksy, Dan: Nominated for Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment, Dan helped coordinate the attendee list for the registration for teammates in the upcoming UC Systemwide HR Institute. This involved significant coordination with UCOP including troubleshooting common issues with registration. Dan was proactive in understanding the trickiness of the registration system and quickly worked with UCOP to address these concerns to save the attendee’s time during registration. This extra task was taken with grace, humor, and diligence, providing amazing support for the team when things were difficult to receive resolutions with UCOP.
Millhollon, Julie: Nominated for Gold Standard Work, Julie stepped up to provide coverage for a colleague on leave. Julie took this on with very little notice and at a time when the service area for this department, as well as their own respective department were at a high volume. Julie had done a exceptional job working through the backlog, providing great support to the departments and their employees, and also helping train a new staff member. We truly appreciate Julie’s flexibility, persistence, and professionalism.
Prabhu, Roma: Nominated for Gold Standard Work in going above and beyond in accommodating an urgent request for an academic appointment to be granted in less than one weeks time. The start date was achieved by escalating the case and obtaining all approvals from the different resources. Roma is always a wealth of knowledge who always provides excellent customer’s service to UCSF Fresno.
Silva, Nicole: Nominated for Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment in helping reviewing corrections for the policy covered salary program. Though relatively new to UCSF, Nicole quickly came up to speed on the project and was able to independently review and recommend appropriate actions. Nicole took the lead in partnering with her colleague, HR leadership, the processing team and compensation that appropriate actions were taken and client communications were timely sent for a successful rollout of the annual program.
Skinner Chamo, Jill: Nominated for Gold Standard Work for the extremely wonderful support to teammates and clients. During Jill’s time with the team, Jill supported a long list of ongoing PCMA cases during a high hiring peak that extended further this year from May through September. Additionally, Jill lent her support to other Staff Shared Services teams in providing coverage for teammates who were away; many of these areas that were supported expressed their gratitude of Jill’s commitment to excellence with signs of praise.
Van, Ha: Nominated for Operational/Organizational Alignment, Ha continues to bring our HR family together by hosting fun team building activities within her own team, and expanding it to the rest of the HR to promote engagement. Ha has also volunteered to have a section during our Staff Shared Services meeting to lead a fun activity. Ha is always a positive and strong team member that is always there for the team who always promotes engagement which is such an important component to our organization.
Whitney, Pilar: Nominated for Gold Standard Work in stepping in going above and beyond when the department was in need especially when accommodating an urgent request for an academic appointment to be granted in less than a weeks time. Pilar managed to escalate this case and obtain all approvals for the appointment to be active by the start date needed. Without Pilar’s efforts, the department would have lost patient care and teaching coverage. An excellent example of customer’s service!

September 2022:

Navarro, Jhonnell: Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment: Although new to the role, Jho was able to provide coverage during the Processing Supervisor's absence and help the team ensure that transactions were processed in a smooth and timely manner.
Peach, Karla: Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment: For providing coverage while the Health Processing Supervisor was out of the office. During this time the team was experiencing some transitions, and the nominator is grateful for Karla's professionalism and team support.
Ponce, Kristen: Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment: In preparation for transitioning to a new role at the end of October, Kristen provided training to a new HR Generalist that will be taking over Kristen's work. Kristen also dedicates time to service area groups on a constant basis.
Ramos, Priscilla: Gold Standard Work and Operational Organizational Alignment for contributed efforts in the onboarding for the new Nurse Graduate Program, and for partnering with the Talent Acquisition team on two group onboarding sessions for the new Nurse Graduate Program that is launching on October 17, 2023.
Rivas, Lena: Gold Standard Work for doing whatever it takes to support the team. Lena is a great trainer who also always provides excellent service. Lena also participates in presentations to external partners and is proactive in her outreach to community leaders.
Showing, Carlos: Gold Standard Work and Operational Organizational Alignment for contributed efforts in the onboarding for the new Nurse Graduate Program, and for partnering with the Talent Acquisition team on two group onboarding sessions for the new Nurse Graduate Program that is launching on October 17, 2023.
Shubow, Jessica: Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment: Jessica has been providing exemplary work to a particular client group that is growing and expanding. Jessica is also the team's subject matter expert (SME) for that particular group, and has shared that expertise by training a new HR Generalist that will also be providing services to that same client group.
Van, Ha: Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment for being instrumental part of the nominator's success with recent recruitments. Ha has provided 'above and beyond' service to clients and colleagues, and has been a great partner who is knowledgeable and willingly finds answers when/if needed.

August 2022:

Abendschein, Dan: Gold Standard Work and Operational/Organizational Alignment for providing customer service that is 'a cut above' while completing urgent requests quickly, effectively. Dan has found creative ways to meet complex requests, and exceeds expectations with the product results and delivery.
Gonzalez, Sara: Gold Standard Work for going above and beyond to support a team mate and their customers, while the team mate was out of the office. The customer noted how appreciative they are for Sara's ability to manage their needs and the responsiveness Sara demonstrated in supporting the department.
Higgins, Vanessa: Gold Standard Work for Vanessa's support of UCSF's Sourcing Program during a very transitional time, and taking on additional work by way of providing coverage during teammate absences, working on projects, and serving on interview panels. Vanessa has done all of these things with a smile on her face and with an attitude of helping out her fellow teammates.
Jew, Alisha: Gold Standard Work for being a true collaborative team member in helping client groups and others in various scenarios with problematic or delayed benefits enrollment. Alisha has been proactive as well, as has great follow through, and is kind, professional, approachable and articulate in communications, which is clearly demonstrated when assisting incoming new hires/transfers with benefit enrollment issues and challenges.
Lee, Wilson: Gold Standard Work for supporting the whole team by taking on additional work during challenging times, which allowed other team members to continue to deliver service and support to their respective client groups. Wilson's "can-do" positive attitude toward team members and clients provided great customer service and team support.
Mani, Evelyn: Gold Standard Work for always being willing to assist, and eager to learn new skill sets. Even while busy, Evelyn offered assistance to onboard 20+ hires within a short turnaround time. Evelyn was also enthusiastic to learn how to process TEP new hires and took on several short turnaround hires in addition to the regular work load.
Somers, Bob: Gold Standard Work for providing vital services to the team and to Staff Shared Services on a daily basis, including onboarding/training new members of the HR team, providing ongoing support to all teammates via guidance, chats, and attending their client meetings with them, hosting HR Buzz Sessions, and the provision of in depth support to New Employee Onboarding processes and procedures. Bob is unflappable. Bob's presence on Team B and in Staff Shared Services is a critical component of the bridge that will take us to where we are going.
Ward, Melissa: Gold Standard Work for the efforts and outcomes related to the extensive pay analysis provide to one client group. The client said "I want to again personally express my appreciation and thanks for Melissa's engagement on the focal equity review. I know the process is quite involved and I am grateful for Melissa's additional efforts in answering my follow up questions. This has been an enlightening process. Many many thanks."
