The worksite remains a UCSF location; however the duties and responsibilities of the role, as determined by the department leader and operational needs, allow for flexibility to telecommute up to 100% for periods of time. The onsite expectations of the role remain flexible and could change periodically. UCSF encourages department leaders to communicate realistic expectations about the need for onsite work and provide as much lead time as possible if expectations change.

Workstation setup recommendation

Working offsite:
- HR recommends the department's discretion to reimburse some reasonable offsite workstation set-up expenses.
- The goal should be mitigating any work-related injuries.
Working onsite:
- HR recommends the department reimburse reasonable offsite workstation set-up expenses and supplies as needed.
- The goal should be mitigating any work-related injuries.

Reimbursement for travel guidelines

Travel to work at a UCSF location is a commuting expense, even in situations where travel is beyond normal commuting distances. The policy does not allow reimbursement for employee commuting expenses from home to the worksite. Travel reimbursements may be allowable in certain exceptional situations.
