Do you have a health condition that requires assistance to do your job? UCSF provides reasonable accommodation to assist you.
Reasonable accommodation and the interactive process may include:
• making existing facilities readily accessible and usable
• restructuring the job to eliminate non-essential job functions
• modifying work schedule or location
• acquiring or modifying equipment, devices or software
• providing qualified readers or interpreters
• reassignment or leave of absence or reduction in time
You, your supervisor and DMS will discuss the essential functions of the job, the limitations/restrictions of the employee, accommodation ideas, the reasonableness of possible accommodations, and the implementation of reasonable accommodations. UCSF will consider these in determining which accommodation(s) to offer. An employee is not entitled to the accommodation of their choice, but to one that is reasonable.
Information about your needs will be kept confidential. It should only be shared on a need-to-know basis. You are not required to share your diagnosis or other details.
• Start the process by requesting accommodation from DMS
• Provide documentation from a healthcare provider regarding any functional limitations to DMS
• Engage with your supervisor and DMS in good faith in exploring accommodation options.
