Faculty and Staff Assistance Expands After-Hours Mental Health Crisis Support

UCSF employees now have access to mental health crisis support outside of regular business hours.

Human Resources is pleased to announce an important expansion to our mental health support services through the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) at UCSF. Understanding that mental health crises may arise any time of day, including outside of standard business hours, we have expanded our crisis service availability.

All UCSF employees can access trained mental health professionals for in-the-moment telephone crisis support after 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends and holidays when the FSAP is closed.

I am excited about providing 24-hour access to support gaps in mental health and wellness for our UCSF teammates, which will contribute to a more productive and balanced workforce,” said Vice President and Assistant Vice Chancellor of People Wellness Stephanie Collins.

FSAP’s standard operating hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday) remain unchanged for non-emergency mental health support and appointment requests. UCSF employees may access this extended service after hours simply by calling the FSAP main telephone line at in-the-moment and following the prompts.

“Mental health challenges may arise at any time, and our after-hours crisis phone support is a direct response to this reality," said Dr. Ana Dolatabadi, PsyD, MA, FSAP clinical director. "By extending our services, we're ensuring that UCSF employees have access to crisis-related mental health support when they need it the most. This step forward reflects our commitment to supporting the well-being of our employees, recognizing that their health and wellness are integral to the strength and success of our UCSF community.”
