Change in Recruitment Waiver Process

Change in Recruitment Waiver Process

An approved waiver of recruitment is no longer needed for select conversions to career appointments.

Effective immediately, an approved waiver of recruitment is no longer needed for openly recruited limited and contract employees that are being converted to career appointments. Concurrently, the New Hire, Rehire, Transfer PCMA form has been updated.

This change aligns with PPSM policy and streamlines the process and timeline for these conversions.

Staff Shared Services will review these cases and assist with the conversion. As a reminder, for limited employees, time in role will count toward their career probationary period, but for all contract employees (where applicable) they will need to serve a full probationary period upon conversion to career.

Actions to take

  • Departments should indicate this is a limited/contract to career conversion. In the "Is this a transfer?" section, there is now a "Contract/Limited to Career Conversion (staff only)" transfer type selection in the dropdown. Departments will select that option.
  • It is important that departments include the BrassRing recruitment ID# in the Recruitment Details section.
  • Reach out to your Staff Shared Services teams with any questions. You can find your designated team using the Find Your HR Representative tool.
  • Review the Waiver of Recruitment article for additional information about that process.
