UC announced on Monday that the Council of Chancellors unanimously approved the recommendation to provide paid family leave for UC faculty and staff. This benefit will go into effect on 7/1/21.

The Systemwide Advisory Council on the Status of Women (SACSW) and the Council of University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA), along with the Staff Advisors to the Regents, have been advocating for this benefit for many years. This benefit demonstrates UC’s support for family friendly workplace policies and benefits. This benefit is subject to collective bargaining for represented employees.

Details on implementation are being developed, including how the benefit will coordinate with existing leave policies and benefits. More specific information will be communicated as it becomes available.
