A brief overview of the process to complete the action.

Most UCSF buildings use an electronic access system and require an UCSF ID badge for entry. Contractors, consultants, vendors, and other affiliates are non-UCSF employees who must obtain and wear their UCSF ID badge while conducting business on UCSF property to help maintain campus security. For appropriate affiliate titles, please refer to the Affiliate Title Code List for Departments.

Estimated time to complete action, aligned with campus SPA turnaround times when applicable, and factors that may affect timing.

A completed request may take five to ten business days to obtain access to requested UCSF sites, depending upon the situation.

Tips:

  • You may request that post-nominal titles appear after your name on your ID badge.
    • For this to occur, UCSF HR must first enter the degree in the Payroll Personnel System (PPS) so notify your department to request this.
    • You must bring proof of the higher degree or certification to the UCSF Police Department (UCSF PD) to obtain your ID badge.
    • UCSF PD will not make this update if the degree is not first entered in PPS.
