With to the implementation of UCPath, payroll/personnel actions (new hires/HR onboarding, payroll, additional compensation, separations, benefits, immigration visa sponsorship process and leaves of absence management) for Interns, Residents and Clinical Fellows will be supported by HR Shared Services for Trainees (Postdoctoral Scholars and Graduate Student Researchers, and now including Residents and Clinical Fellows) beginning in May 2020 (in preparation for the June 1, 2020 UCPath go live date). These activities were previously supported by the Residency and Education programs in the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry.

HR Shared Services is excited to partner with the Office of Graduate Medical Education, individual Residency and Education programs within the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy and School of Dentistry in supporting the HR activities of our Interns, Residents and Clinical Fellows.


  • Effective May 4, 2020, Departments will begin using PeopleConnect to submit Management Actions (PCMA) to Human Resources Shared Services.
  • Position Management and payroll will be handled centrally in UCPath within HR Shared Services. Programs/departments supporting Interns, Residents and Clinical Fellows will utilize UCPath to conduct funding activities similar to other UCSF employee populations. 
  • UCSF HR will provide training to Program Administrators in mid-April pertaining to the utilization of PeopleConnect and HR processes. Training dates have been shared directly with individual programs.
  • Designated departmental personnel will be contacted by the UCPath Project Team regarding UCPath training (including funding entry).
