As the situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is continuing to evolve, HR is making adjustments to our internal processes as needed. In focusing on the safety and well-being of all UCSF staff, we are temporarily making adjustments to our New Employee Orientation (NEO) schedule. In place of our usual one-hour presentation, followed by a benefits presentation, our in-person NEO sessions will be adjusted to only include the signing of required HR payroll and employment verification forms. The setup in the NEO conference rooms will be adjusted to reduce person-to-person contact, and minimize the number of people in the room at a time.

For Staff, Academic, and Postdoc titles, NEO will move to an abbreviated session as follows. Effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, NEO will temporarily transition to remote orientations for Staff, Academic, and Postdoc titles:

  • In-person NEO sessions will temporarily be halted due to the city’s shelter-in-place directive
  • In place of in-person sessions, modified processes have been established to allow for the remote signing of required payroll and employment verification forms
  • Benefits presentations will be provided via a weekly web-based orientation
  • New-hires will be instructed to go to WEID directly to obtain their ID badge

HR will provide detailed information directly to the new-hires in regards to the dates, times, locations, or future NEO sessions.

Please contact your HR generalist or manager with any questions.
