Brian Alldredge, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (VPAA), recently announced new roles for Emerald Light and Claire Grote.

Claire Grote has been named Manager, Academic Employee Relations. Claire received her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. She joined the VPAA office in 2015, serving as an Academic Employee Relations Specialist, where she developed expertise in academic employee relations, including matters related to faculty discipline, policy interpretation and compliance, and academic misconduct and grievance procedures. Most recently, Claire has served as Interim Manager of the team.   In her new role, Claire will oversee the Academic Employee Relations team and be the primary campus resource for advice, consultation and training to members of the UCSF community in Academic Employee Relations. Claire will report directly to Emerald Light, Assistant Vice Provost.

Emerald Light has been named Assistant Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. Emerald has been a member of the VPAA office since 2010, first serving as the Academic Affairs Manager and then as the Director of Academic Affairs. Emerald brings an unparalleled breadth and depth of expertise to this role, having participated in a number of critical UCSF and UC systemwide work groups specific to academic personnel and the health sciences. In her new role as Assistant Vice Provost, Emerald will report directly to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and will oversee the management of academic personnel activities for the campus, provide policy interpretation to campus leadership, and serve as the UCSF academic personnel representative to UC system-wide.
