The Clinical Research Office provides support to investigators and study teams initiating and conducting clinical trials. This includes maintaining a clinical trial management system (CTMS), conducting Medicare coverage analysis, developing budgets for clinical research studies, negotiating payment terms with industry and non-profit sponsors, providing clinical research infrastructure and services.

Clinical Research and Trial Openings:

  • Budget Analyst – The Budget Analyst will be responsible for developing and negotiating budgets for industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical research studies. The hire will perform in-depth analysis and interpretation of clinical trial protocols in order to project the cost of running clinical trials at UCSF.
  • Coverage Analyst – The Coverage Analyst will perform Medicare Coverage Analysis reviews on clinical research studies. The incumbent will create a billing justification plan, reflecting which medical procedures can be billed to patient insurance versus the study sponsor.
  • Facility Coder – The Facility Coder is responsible for coding and charging processes for clinical research studies. The incumbent will determine the correct CPT codes for a wide variety of research procedures, in accordance with Federal, State, University, and contracted payer regulations and guidelines. Must be a Certified Professional Coder.
