As a result of the Visa Lean project that was conducted in early 2017, a group of HR staff and department representatives have partnered with the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) and Program Management Office (PMO) colleagues to improve the H-1B and J-1 visa application process. In late 2016 and early 2017, the team conducted a series of kaizen workshops and developed a list of improvements, which they have been working to implement.

On Sept. 1, 2017, HR will transition the majority of the H-1B visa application forms from paper format to DocuSign. Many of the H-1B application forms currently submitted via HR Service Request System (SRS) by the hiring department will now be collected via DocuSign, reducing the amount of physical paperwork involved and the effort required for signature collection.
