Microsoft Excel Workshops, Oct. 27
Microsoft Excel Intermediate: This half-day workshop is for business users who are already familiar with Microsoft Excel and want to take their skills to the next level. 

Two Business Writing Essentials Workshops, Oct. 20 and Nov. 1
Write Right!, Oct. 20
This all-day workshop covers the foundation of business writing, including correct grammar and how to spot and correct errors.
Get to the Point, Nov. 1
This all-day workshop focuses on writing with purpose and audience in mind. It will cover practical ways to organize, format, and write communications that help readers quickly understand and act on your message.

Professional Staff Development, November–December 2016
The November–December PSD series is open for registration in the UC Learning Center. This five-session series is offered to non-supervisory staff and centers on the core competencies that support their professional success, with an emphasis on communication, customer focus, and problem-solving. Participants must sign up for all five sessions. 

Campus Management Practices Series, Fall 2016
The Campus Management Practices Series offers short sessions on a variety of topics designed to help you navigate critical campus-specific management responsibilities and learn key human resources policies and procedures. New supervisors and above are encouraged to complete this series in their first six months. Register for each session separately; registration is open through the date of instruction.

Accomplishing More with Less, Dec. 9 (limited space)
This highly effective one-day workshop helps participants harness the power of organizational skills to deal with today’s most pressing workplace issues such as time management, prioritization, dealing with interruptions, email, calendars, and to-do lists, as well as organizing electronic and paper documents.

Leading the Frontline Series, November 2016–January 2017 
This five-session program is for current supervisors and frontline managers, as well as emerging leaders who are formally designated by their managers to be promoted to a supervisory/management role within six months. Participants will develop core competencies essential for success in the frontline leadership role. Enrollment is not available through the UC Learning Center; see the flyer for application instructions.

New Leader Onboarding 
This monthly program is offered to newly promoted or hired supervisors, managers, and above. The session includes:

  • an overview of UCSF culture and priorities
  • guidelines on how to develop a smooth and effective transition into your new role 
  • an orientation to tools and resources available to you in your role as a manager
  • a chance to network with peers at UCSF
