The UCSF HR Employee Recognition Program Selection Committee is pleased to announce the Employee of the Month Award recipients for July 2016, Christina Ignatius and Carol Ramil! Congratulations to them both! In addition to recognition, they will each receive a certificate and $50 Visa gift card.

Name: Christina Ignatius
Job Title: Staff HR Generalist, Team B
HR Team/Work Unit: Shared Services

Why Nominated:
“I recently transferred departments at UCSF and, as a result, the letter detailing my merit increase eligibility did not get to me. Christina is the generalist that I was assigned to in my previous position, so I contacted her with this issue because I had a very positive experience with her in the past. Christina was extremely responsive; she handled the tricky communications with my previous department and my current department so that I didn't have to; she kept me in the loop so that I knew what was happening and that I would get my merit increase; and she resolved the confusion by taking multiple steps to get my letter issued. As you can imagine, this situation was stressful for me and fairly high stakes because I was worried that I became ineligible for the merit increase when I transferred departments. Christina assuaged my fears, allowing me to await the letter without much anxiousness. I really appreciate her help; it made a difference in my experience as an employee of UCSF.”

What does Christina enjoy doing outside of work?
“I love spending time with my family, whether it’s camping in the summer, snowboarding in the winter, or running 5Ks year-round with my son.”

Name: Carol Ramil
Job Title: Academic HR Generalist
HR Team/Work Unit: Shared Services

Why Nominated:

  • “She is always busy, but every time I need her help for a funding change, her responsiveness and turnaround time for processing the request is really fast (within 15 minutes after I sent her an FYI email - amazing!).”
  • “Every time I have questions that require HR input (policy & regulation), she is always there ready to help and always has an answer.  She is like a walking dictionary.  It is nice to know that we have an academic generalist that is very reliable and has a clear and effective communication.”
  • “Carol continuously provides excellent customer service to not only her own client department, but other departments when covering for her teammates. Even with her busy workload, she is always willing to step in where needed and provide her expertise to the team and clients. Carol is very hardworking and works all hours in order to get the job done. I appreciate Carol's willingness to help and I am grateful that I am able to rely on Carol.”

What does Carol enjoy doing outside of work?
“Spending time taking care of our family members, dinners, get-togethers, and traveling with good friends and family. I enjoy gardening, bike riding, hiking, doing home improvement, and trying new restaurants.”
