The UCSF HR Employee Recognition Program Selection Committee is pleased to announce the Employee of the Month Award recipients for March 2016, Wilson Hardcastle and Jennifer Tapken! Congratulations to them both! In addition to recognition, they will each receive a certificate and $50 Visa gift card.

Name: Wilson Hardcastle
Job Title: Academic Data and Home Loan Coordinator
HR Team/Work Unit: Office of the Vice Provost, Academic Affairs and Faculty Development

Why Nominated:

  • “In his role as the campus home loan coordinator, Wilson supports many of the faculty and SMG recruits at a critical time in their transition to UCSF by helping them navigate the complex UC home loan program. He consistently receives unsolicited praise from his faculty clients such as” ‘I’ve had a complicated UC loan situation and he has helped me navigate it very skillfully and has [taken] the stress out of the process.”
  • "He’s a great colleague, a valued team member, and he provides excellent customer service. Wilson is an unsung hero who represents our HR organization well, and he’s a fun guy to work with!”

What does Wilson enjoy doing outside of work?
“I like music, theater, musical theater, and dancing. But not all in the same way. I revel in the urban country scene around the Bay, and enjoy a good cabaret show and dramatic theater. I joined the board of Bay Area Musicals to support making the transformative power of musical theater accessible to diverse communities. And personally I love country western dancing with Sundance Saloon. I think the world would be a better place if more people got to waltz.

Good music in small venues--that's my thing. You won’t be disappointed checking out Pam Brandon and the Luxomatics some Sundays at Club Deluxe, or Maurice Tani (77 El Deora) or Margaret Belton (The Patsychords) absolutely anywhere you can hear them.”

Name: Jennifer Tapken
Job Title: Business Operations Manager
HR Team/Work Unit: HR Business Services

Why Nominated:

  • “Jennifer has worked on strengthening internal policies and procedures to create a more consistent and standard approach for how things are handled across our organization. Examples are FTE requests process, purchasing, parking stickers, electronic devices, etc.”
  • "Jennifer serves as an internal resource to UCSF HR. She is interested in supporting process improvement initiatives that are related to Business Services and to our work in Human Resources. She has quickly established herself as a leader who is interested in collaborating to identify strategies."

What does Jennifer enjoy doing outside of work?
“I enjoy long distance running and usually am training for an event, traveling with my husband, and spoiling my Boxer/German Shepherd mix, Duke.”
