The following are development offerings for January–March 2016. Registration instructions and course details are included in the flyer related to each course. 

Professional Staff Development (PSD), January–February 
This series is offered to non-supervisory staff. It focuses on core competencies that support their professional success, with an emphasis on communication, customer focus, and problem-solving. Participants must sign up for all five sessions. 

Leading the Frontline Series, January–March
This series will start on Jan. 13 and is offered to current supervisors, frontline managers, or staff members who are targeted for promotion to a supervisor or management role within six months of the program. It develops core competencies essential for success in a frontline leadership role. Enrollment in this program is not available through the UC Learning Center. 

Managing Challenging Patient Behaviors, Jan. 15
This is an all-day session offered to direct patient care staff and managers. It provides a framework for understanding challenging patient behaviors and engaging patients with a balance of empathy and respectful limit setting. It offers best practices for addressing these behaviors, as well as an opportunity to do scenario-based role playing to practice responses to challenging patient behaviors. 

Two Business Writing Essentials
Write Right!, Jan. 13
This all-day workshop covers the foundation of business writing to make sure participants know current grammar rules and how to spot and correct errors. 
Get to the Point, Jan. 27
This all-day workshop focuses on the crucial writing issues: purpose and audience. It will cover practical ways you can organize, format, and write a communication, such as an email, so the reader quickly gets the point and can act on it.

Microsoft Excel Workshops – Jan. 20
Microsoft Excel Advanced, 1–4:30 p.m.
In this half-day workshop, you will learn the most powerful capabilities of Excel Pivot Tables and how they can be utilized to analyze your data and present your findings in compelling ways.
