The UCSF HR Employee Recognition Program Selection Committee is pleased to announce the fall 2015 Hero Highlight award recipient is Anna Cordoba, who is recognized for her community service and volunteer work.

Name: Anna Cordoba
Job Title: Benefits Assistant
HR Team/Work Unit: Benefits Specialty Center

Why Nominated:

  • "Anna is a tireless individual who has spent her weekends with the sisters at the Missionaries of Charity preparing fruits and vegetables for meals to feed the homeless."
  • "She has spent her annual summer vacation leave from UCSF to prepare and cook meals and snacks for the children who attend the two week day camp."
  • "She is a hero to the people who receive the meals, food, and sundry items and sisters of the Missionaries of Charity for her endless hours of volunteerism, energy, and efforts in support of their assistance to people in need."

What does Anna enjoy doing outside of work?
"I'm going into the missionary work full-time after I retire. It means everything to me. I raised four children independently with only this job, which I've been at for 38 years. I just want to give back to Him for helping me raise my children. I've been doing this work for 10 years. It's beautiful work that the sisters do."
