UCSF Staff HR Shared Services has partnered with the Career Tracks Advisory Committee comprised of representatives from the various Control Points to determine a feasible implementation plan to allow for an anticipated effective date of November 2016 for all new titles.

The scope of this initiative is Managers and Senior Professionals (MSP) and Professional and Support Staff (PSS) jobs only. Senior Management Group (SMG), academics, and represented employees will not be affected. Career Tracks is not intended to impact an employee’s base pay, working title (“business card” title), or key job duties.

The job mapping process for all Career Tracks job families will be rolled out to the campus beginning January 2016. This process will involve supervisors, managers, and non-represented staff. As a result of the process, job descriptions and payroll titles will be more consistent across departments, grouped in logical, related job families, and tied to the external labor market. Although no pay changes will occur at the time employees are mapped, new salary ranges will provide reference and better guidance for future pay decisions.

This implementation plan will be for Campus employees only. The health system will have a separate phased implementation plan, which they will be communicating directly to those groups affected. Campus and the health system will partner on the mapping of employees who perform similar work to ensure parity.

Town Halls focused on the campus implementation will be held at several locations – two of which will be live streamed – over the coming weeks in an effort to ensure all employees have an opportunity to learn more about Career Tracks and ask questions:
