As you may know, several members of the UCSF Human Resources Compensation unit will be retiring at the end of June. We are taking this opportunity to reassess the structure and reporting relationships for the work performed by the Compensation unit.

  • UCSF HR will openly recruit for a Compensation Specialist. This position will be an individual contributor responsible for developing local compensation programs, providing campus compensation expertise, and representing UCSF on system-wide compensation matters. This position will report to Mike Tyburski, Director of the HR Specialty Center.
  • The Compensation unit, which is responsible for compensation transactional activities (classification and salary setting), will move into UCSF HR Shared Services.
    • A Compensation Supervisor to oversee this unit will be openly recruited. This position will report to Katy Rau, Director of Staff Shared Services.
    • The remaining Specialty Center Compensation unit staff will transition to this new unit.
    • Two vacant compensation positions will be filled by reassigning current UCSF HR employees.

We will keep you updated as the Compensation Specialist and new Compensation unit team members are identified. Please contact Mike Tyburski and Katy Rau with any questions.
